On May 9, 2026 the Conservancy held its annual Spring Planting Day in Founders Park. The focus for this year's planting was creating"soft landing" areas around three of the park's largest trees, on the south side of the park.

The idea is to provide a soft surface for caterpillars dropping from upper branches, and involves planting native plants under the drip line, adding mulch to support new plant growth, and installing stakes and ropes to demarcate the planting areas for landscape workers using mowers.

Volunteers also added new native plants near the south entrance to the park.
